Two children of Gannett Fleming employees have received a boost to their college plans, thanks to winning the 2016 Gannett Fleming Scholarship Program. Each student will each receive $2,000 toward his or her college education.

The winners are:

• Samuel Li, the son of YuWen Li, PE, a structural project manager based in the firm’s Valley Forge office.

• Bethany King, the daughter of Brian King, PE, a vice president and manager of transit and rail maintenance facilities, based in Gannett Fleming’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg.

Samuel graduated with distinguished honors from Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, in June 2016. He plans to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.

Bethany attended Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill, and qualified to enter college after just three years. She is majoring in marketing management at Grove City College in Grove City.

“These students have an incredibly bright future ahead, and we are honored to help them achieve their educational goals,” said William M. Stout, PE, FACEC, Gannett Fleming chairman and CEO. “We are pleased to invest in the future of our employees’ families through this scholarship program.”

The Gannett Fleming Scholarship Program was created in 2000 to recognize the children and grandchildren of the firm’s employees who show exceptional scholarship, leadership, and character. The winners were selected by a panel of nonpartisan judges based on their answers to two essay questions, their most recent school transcripts, involvement in community and extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation
