Funding Opportunity for the Development of Plans and Policies to Enhance the Built Environment and Expand Opportunities for Physical Activity

For the second consecutive year, WalkWorks is very excited to be in a position to advance policy development by offering financial assistance to a limited number of municipalities or similar local governing bodies for the development of Active Transportation Plans, Complete Streets policies and/or Vision Zero policies. This Funding Opportunity aims to increase physical activity aby assisting municipalities with enhancing the built environment of their communities by optimizing active transportation and connectivity to common destinations. In this context, active transportation includes walking, biking and public transit.
 
Eligible applicants are municipalities, Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organizations (MPOs/RPOs) and similar types of organizations with the capacity to accomplish the proposed project. If interested, please consider whether your organization meets the eligibility requirements and/or we would very much appreciate your sharing this with others.

Though detailed throughout the Funding Opportunity Announcement, which includes the application (Appendix C), the following are some of the pertinent dates:

Dates/Time Action/Event
October 9; 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. A non-mandatory webinar will address expectations of applicants and awardees and answer questions of those participating on the web conference. Call-in information is detailed in the application.
October 26 by 5:00 p.m. Applications received after this date/time will not be considered.
November 30 On or about this date, grant recipients will be notified; those not receiving funding will receive notice shortly thereafter.
