Nominate Your Transportation Project for a Road or Bridge Safety Improvement Award

February 11th, 2019

Did your borough have a successful road or bridge project in 2018? Eligible projects can be entered in the 37th Annual Road and Bridge Safety Improvement Contest. Winners will be presented with a plaque at the PSAB Annual Conference in Hershey. Entries are being accepted until May 3, 2019.

Sponsored by the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association, the state Department of Transportation, and the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB), the contest recognizes boroughs for their contributions to making roads and bridges safer for motorists.

Eligible projects include safety improvements initiated and completed in 2018 or ongoing projects that began in 2017. Entries must involve visible improvements, such as the installation of guide rails or stop signs, the widening and resurfacing of roads, bridge improvements, or the clearing of brush from a curve on a road where poor sight distance has resulted in accidents.

Education programs, stricter speed limit enforcement, and drunk driver programs, while contributing to traffic safety, are not eligible for this contest.
