Hatfield Borough Receives Historic Designation for former Jailhouse

Historic Designation Granted for Building that Once Served as Hatfield Borough’s Electric Substation and Jailhouse

In 2014, after several years of researching the uniqueness of one of Hatfield Borough’s oldest buildings that once housed an electric substation, a single-cell lock-up, and a one-time firehouse, borough council began the application process to have the building considered as a historic site. In January, the Hatfield Borough Electric Substation Building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is the borough’s first such designation. Click here to read more.
