PUC Details $200 Million Distribution of Gas Drilling Impact Fees to PA Communities

June 23rd, 2020

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission announced that it collected $200 million in natural gas impact fees for calendar year 2019, which was distributed in July. Counties and municipalities directly affected by drilling will receive $109 million of these funds.

The total collected is down about 18 percent from last year, which at $243 million was the highest amount collected in any one year. The PUC noted that the reduction was primarily due to a lower price of natural gas in 2019 than in 2018.

Extensive details regarding the impact fee distribution are available online, including specifics on funds collected and distributed for each year since 2011. Visitors can search and download statistics such as distributions to individual municipalities or counties; allocation and usage of those funds, based on reports submitted by various municipalities; eligible wells per county/municipality; and payments by producers.

More information can be found on Here, you can find your borough’s distribution and choose “Reports,” then “County and Municipality Disbursement,” and then choose “2019” from the drop-down menu.
