Traffic Signal Technologies Grant Program; Invitation to Submit Applications

     Under section 1708-F.2 of the Fiscal Code of 1929 (72 P.S. § 1708-F.2), regarding motor license fund, as amended by Act 54 of 2022, the Department of Transportation (Department) established the Traffic Signal Technologies Grant Program (Program). The Program is a competitive application and reimbursement grant program whereby municipalities can request financial assistance for traffic signal technologies at traffic control signals which will be connected to a central location using the Commonwealth communications network. During Fiscal Year 2022-2023, $5 million will be available.

     Additional information on eligible Program projects and the Program guidelines can be found on the Department's Traffic Signal web site at http://www.dot.state.pa.us/signals, including a link to the online electronic application. Supporting documents may be attached to the online application. Only the application and supporting documents attached to the online application will be considered. Paper copies are not required.

     The Department invites municipalities to submit electronic Program applications between September 1, 2022, and September 30, 2022. Prior to application submission, applicants must complete and submit a preapplication project scoping form in accordance with the Program guidelines.

     If municipalities are awarded funding, all grant agreements and requests for reimbursement will be processed through the Commonwealth's eGrants system.
