Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program
October 1st, 2025This is an annual grant program for Pennsylvania fire companies, EMS, and rescue squads. Funding can support facilities, equipment, debt reduction, training, education, recruitment/retention, and in some cases, overtime or new construction savings. The application deadline is October 20, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. For more information, click here.
Who Can Apply:
- All fire companies (volunteer and career)
- Emergency medical services (EMS)
- Volunteer rescue squads
Applicants must report incidents monthly through the Pennsylvania Fire Incident Reporting System to maintain eligibility.
Eligible Projects (organizations may apply for up to two categories):
- Facilities: Construction, renovation, or repair of fire/EMS facilities, including fixtures and furnishings.
- Equipment: Purchase or repair of firefighting, ambulance, or rescue equipment, including vehicle fuel.
- Debt Reduction: Paying down facility or equipment-related debt.
- Training: Training and certification of members.
- Public Training & Education: Fire prevention materials for the public.
- Career Departments Only: Overtime costs for backfilling while firefighters attend training.
- Recruitment & Retention: Programs supporting volunteer service, including minors and length-of-service awards.
- Construction Savings Account (fire companies only): Grants may be set aside for up to five years toward constructing a new facility (non-amendable).
