PA Supreme Court Rules on Skill Games
June 30th, 2026On June 15, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that so-called "skill games" are subject to the state's Gaming Act and Crimes Code, finding that a 2017 legislative amendment made the games unlawful under current law. The Court emphasized that any changes to the legal status of skill games must come from the General Assembly, not the courts.
To allow time for a legislative response and to minimize disruption for businesses, the Court stayed its ruling for 120 days, during which law enforcement agencies are prohibited from taking action against owners or operators of skill game devices based on the decision.
