New Data Center Website Announced

Pennsylvania’s new Executive Order 2026-05 establishes stricter standards for data center development and gives local communities a greater role in deciding whether projects move forward.

A new “Your Voice on Data Centers” website allows residents to provide feedback on proposed projects, including whether local communities and leaders support them. Developers will be expected to meet requirements related to energy affordability, transparency, community engagement, workforce and economic development, and environmental protection.

The order also removes data center projects from Pennsylvania’s Permit Fast Track Program and prohibits the use of non-disclosure agreements for proposed data centers. A new statewide data center map will provide additional information about projects.

The announcement emphasizes greater public input, stronger environmental and energy standards, and increased local control over future data center development.
