PennDot Funding for Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety

PennDot is allocating $80 million to improve infrastructure for pedestrian and cyclist safety through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) of the Federal Highway Administration’s Surface Block Grant Program.

Key Points:

• Application dates are from July 14, 2025 to October 31, 2025 (Draft applications are due by September 5, 2025)
• Eligible applicants: Local governments, regional transportation agencies, transit agencies, school districts, public land agencies, schools and education agencies
• Projects can include such things as sidewalk and bike lane construction, improved public transportation access and community enhancements (historic preservation, stormwater management, vegetation, etc.)
• A virtual Q&A session will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at 1 p.m.
