Lemoyne Borough - The Little Town That Has It All

February 3rd, 2025

In picturesque Cumberland County, directly across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, lies the Borough of Lemoyne. This little gem of a borough truly does “have it all”. Coffee shops, parks, local businesses, convenience to downtown Harrisburg, or Senator’s baseball games on City Island, there is something for everyone.

Lemoyne Borough, formerly named “Bridgeport,” was incorporated on May 23, 1905. Later, the borough was named after French soldier Charles LeMoyne.

“Lemoyne borough is a close-knit community with a unique charm that reflects its rich history and welcoming atmosphere. We’re proud of our parks, schools, and local businesses, and there’s a strong sense of pride among our residents that makes it a truly special place to live and work,” says Borough Manager, Amanda Seibert.

The borough has many fun events throughout the year, but standouts are the Arbor Day Festival in the spring and a Concert@ Negley Park in July. Lemoyne’s Negley Park is one of the region's most picturesque spots, perched high on a hill overlooking the skyline of the state capitol, and the Susquehanna River. The park has lots of picnic tables, an unbeatable view of the capital city, the river, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts.

Lemoyne Borough is home to the West Shore Farmer’s Market, a popular destination for central Pennsylvanians in a 60,000 sq. ft. facility. The market has two floors with specialty shops on the upper level, which offer a wide variety of fine gifts, jewelry, antiques, books, and a salon. The farmers' market, located on the lower level, has 50 vendors who sell all kinds of foods from fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, meat, baked goods, and prepared foods from gourmet coffees to soft pretzels.

As stated on the borough’s website, www.lemoynepa.com, “Our approximately 4,500 residents enjoy all the amenities of small-town living with the convenience of having the state’s capital city in our backyard.” A statement that confirms it’s a “small town that has it all”.
